Toribio de Peñalva (16?-1718) was Alcalde de la Hermandad and Procurator General of Buenos Aires during Viceroyalty of Peru. == Biography == Born in Santander, Spain. In 1629, he arrived at port of Buenos Aires from Brazil, after a while, Peñalva was married in the City with Ana, daughter of Vicente Simoes de Sosa, a Portuguese nobleman. In 1640, Peñalva received land grants, and had purchased the ranch of Amador Báez de Alpoim. Time later he became one most powerful landowners in the Province of Buenos Aires, and was appointed Alcalde de la Hermandad. Toribio de Peñalva and Ana Sosa, had six sons, one of them Juan, was married to Ana de Roxas, the granddaughter of Lieutenant Governor Pedro de Roxas y Acevedo.
